Nov. 30 - Gawker

And Gawker reports, "Britney Spears put the classy makeover on hold until . . . tomorrow! Tomorrow, we're sure of it! by hanging out with Fat Elvis impersonator/oily haired oil heir Brandon Davis."

Nov. 30 - Defamer

Has a quote describing a movie: "And in an as-yet-untitled Southern gothic directed by Deborah Kampmeier ("Virgin"), Dakota Fanning plays a precocious girl in 1950's Alabama who sings and dances like Elvis Presley. But the film includes a scene in which the 12-year-old Miss Fanning's character is raped."

Nov. 27 - Bono loves Elvis

Watching the Off the Record talk show on HBO, Bono and the Edge were the first guests. And Bono went off on a rant about how Elvis Presley was on fire while performing.

Nov. 26 - Robbie again

Someone commented on the photos of Robbie in GQ: "he remind me of Mel C in Spiceworld in those Elvisesque pictues. Bless. :D" And someone else wrote: "him as elvis looks like a homer simpson/elvis mix"

Nov. 26 - A Star Ain't Born

In this week's EW, there's a review of the DVD of the Streisand "A Star is Born" with a sidebar article about how Elvis (complete with photo) was supposed to play the Kristofferson role.

Bought the new Xmas CD from Starbucks, which has an EP Xmas classic.

Nov. 23 - Without Who?

Was suprised to hear Eminem's song today.

Nov. 23 - Killer Article

Still working my way thru the Rolling Stones Hot issue. The article on Jerry Lee Lewis is filled with Elvis references, of course.

Nov. 22 - Tony Bennett TV show review

Again from the LAT, but yesterday's as I was behind a day: If it's not quite the defining moment or definitive statement that were Frank Sinatra's "A Man and His Music," the 1968 Elvis Presley "comeback" special, Liza Minnelli's "Liza With a Z" or the series of musical hours that sealed Barbra Streisand's stardom well before she ever made a movie, it is schooled in those landmark broadcasts and is the best thing of its sort — not a lot of competition there, agreed — to come along in a long time

Nov. 22 - Babs review

From the LAT review: Barbra Streisand is Elvis Presley without the swivel hips, the Beatles if they'd stuck to show tunes, Aretha Franklin as a Jewish mameleh from Brooklyn. She's the killer queen of old-school pop in the rock and soul era, and she brought her jubilee tour home Monday to Staples Center. and also Streisand's vocal gift, like Presley's or Franklin's, has the power to obliterate every other aspect of her being: Singing, she becomes some kind of archetype, and all the human stuff, while still important, becomes secondary.

Nov. 20 - A Display for LA

At the Beverly Hills library, there is a 2 sided NY/LA display up -- and prominently displayed on the LA half is a mystery (I think) about Elvis and Marilyn. This is the cover, although it's slightly different than what was at the library.

Nov 18 - Elvis Treasures for Sale

In Barnes & Noble, there was an entire display devoted to the sale price of this book, which I already own. There's a pop up Graceland book, which was also prominently displayed on the new book area, and I checked it out, but it seems like something I can do without...

Nov. 19 - Hey Baby, Let's Go to Vegas

Watching what used to be VH1 Country, saw the old Faith Hill video in which she has a young Elvis impersonator dancing as part of the whole Vegas vibe.

Nov. 18 - Dylan + Elvis

On p. 187 of this massive book, there's a lot about Dylan and Elvis, including the pullquote "I broke down..I didn't talk to anyone for a week after Elvis died."

Nov. 17- EW returns to form

For so many weeks it seemed like EP wasn't being given enough love in the pages of EW, but this week there's a review of Elvis on the Sullivan Show DVD.

Nov. 15 - ad for gospel cd

Surprisingly, it wasn't a full page ad, which is usually the case for Country Weekly. Instead, in a page of over a dozen cheapy cd offers, there was a stock photo of Elvis promoting a Gospel cd.

Nov 13 - Dedication

She dedicates the book to a bunch of rock and rollers, including Elvis Presley. That's as far as I've gotten, but there is a Chapter with a subtitle about The King, so I'm assuming that will be about Elvis.

Nov 10 - Is this a repeat?

I am finally done with this issue of Blender. I just spotted the review of the new Jerry Lee Lewis album in which Elvis was mentioned. Did I already spot this when the magazine first came? Can't be bothered to go back and look.

Nov. 10 - A record I wasn't aware of

From an Australian newspaper article about Mr. Williams: Williams obsesses over his sales around the world. Rudebox debuted at No.1 in Britain (only Elvis has had more No.1 albums as a male solo act) but the sales were lower than usual. It hasn't escaped his attention.

nov 8 - 3 more Elvis notations

Finished the book finally. Really good.

Nov. 7 - Odd Calendar

In Borders, looking unsuccessfully for the Courtney Love book, I wandered by the rack of Calendars and saw a weird different EP calendar on sale (not the pictured one). Didn't buy.

Nov. 7 - Enough of the Elvis THS please!

Once again, minding my own business, going to the printer, and forced to see images of Col. Parker and 70s era Elvis on a co-workers TV. Better than a field of flowers, I guess...

Nov 7 - Big Books on Display

Cruising the music books section at Book Soup I finally saw the Wertheimer book Elvis at 21 -- which is huge but let's just say contains photos we've seen before. Not worth the $. And right next to it on the oversized music books table was some book about Number One Hits, and Elvis in his red shirt was one of the people on the cover. Neither book was purchased.

Nov 6 - Meatloaf pull quote

Flipping thru the Rolling Stone in the supermarket, saw a quote from Mr. Loaf saying "I met Elvis and Lenon, but I was stupid" or something like that.

Nov 5 - The link continues

Nov 5 - The stupid LA Times Magazine is still stupid

The LA Times magazine has always been incredibly lame and it continues to be do. Today's edition featured the above Elvis impersonator on the cover for its Vegas issue.

Nov. 5 - Commercials Before Movies

AMC has no shame about showing way too many commercials and previews before the movie. Tonight, we went to go see the Dixie Chicks documentary and before the show began we saw the Honda commercial with the Hunka Burning Love song projected on the big screen.

Nov 5 - Record Store Records

the beautiful thing about Record Trader is they actually carry records. And when I walked in this afternoon, I noticed a whole new display case display of Elvis singles in their fancy covers. Ah, singles... Ah, records... And although in years past, I would buy albums especially Elvis albums from this store, today I bought some soundtrack CDs.

Nov 4 - Second Elvis mention

Now I'm at a part where the characters go to a costume party and they spot two Elvises talking -- one done up like Aloha Elvis the other like Elvis On Tour.

Nov. 4 - Dita Von Teese has Elvis on her ipod

So I read in Jane while waiting in the waiting room.

Nov 4 - Another U2 casual mention

I'm determined to get thru this damn book. One more reference to Elvis music today.

Nov. 3 - Book quote already quoted

Forgot that I had seen the quote that included Elvis in Ent. Weekly, but just came across it again while reading this. By the way, this is the foreign cover. Very different than the American one.

Nov. 3 - YouTube Robbie Williams again
