Dec 10 - Vegas = Elvis

In the LAT, there's an article about Liza doing a private performance for other Vegas performers, a trend she and Sammy Davis Jr. used to do years ago (obviously a long time ago since SDJr. is long gone) but the article mentioned Vegas performers of the '80's and said by that time Elvis was dead.

Nov. 22 - Tony Bennett TV show review

Again from the LAT, but yesterday's as I was behind a day: If it's not quite the defining moment or definitive statement that were Frank Sinatra's "A Man and His Music," the 1968 Elvis Presley "comeback" special, Liza Minnelli's "Liza With a Z" or the series of musical hours that sealed Barbra Streisand's stardom well before she ever made a movie, it is schooled in those landmark broadcasts and is the best thing of its sort — not a lot of competition there, agreed — to come along in a long time

Nov. 22 - Babs review

From the LAT review: Barbra Streisand is Elvis Presley without the swivel hips, the Beatles if they'd stuck to show tunes, Aretha Franklin as a Jewish mameleh from Brooklyn. She's the killer queen of old-school pop in the rock and soul era, and she brought her jubilee tour home Monday to Staples Center. and also Streisand's vocal gift, like Presley's or Franklin's, has the power to obliterate every other aspect of her being: Singing, she becomes some kind of archetype, and all the human stuff, while still important, becomes secondary.

Oct. 20 - Old review of Intensive Care

Since Robbie has a new album out, there are links to the old one. And in one review, it said "On Advertising Space, he can't depict Elvis's twilight years without making a priapic cameo appearance, lusting after Lisa Marie."
