Remember Julien???
The "French Sangina" - as we nicknamed him - is back, this time completely butchering Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel.
And the judges loved it!
His charisma is totally infectious. Plus he's hella hot.
And, he's making male hair clips totally in style!
Click here to watch Julien work his magic on this week's episode of Nouvelle Star.

From an article online:
Now, R&B--like all mass musical forms, from indie rock to hip-hop and techno--is a formally conservative art. What makes great R&B hasn't changed a lick since the days of Ruth Brown and Big Mama Thornton. (And, truth be told, if anybody knows any songs that match Brown's "5-10-15 Hours" or Thornton's "Just Like a Dog," please respond to the e-mail address below.) And, as any pop music listener from the past 50 years knows, any time white people start reaping the benefits of the work of black people it presents a bit of a social, political, cultural, and moral rub (see also: Presley, Elvis; rock 'n' roll, history; America, 18th- and 19th-century agrarian economy; etc.).

April 13 - When You Hear Tim McGraw, I Hope You Think of Me
From an EW on-line Q&A:
EW:So does that get you to thinking — not that you don't have a nice nest egg already — ''Man, I'm gonna have to be on the road every year for retirement and the kids''?
TM: No. No way. I'm not gonna be doing that. Uh-uh! I'm gonna be fat and fishin' like Elvis somewhere one day.

April 7 - Which rock group would you tattoo?
So we see this guy with all the members of Kiss tattooed on his legs, and I ask the women I was with who they would get tattoo of if they had to have a tattoo of a rock group. One went for Sting, while another changed the rules and said she'd prefer a dragon. Then they said "I know who you'd have -- Elvis!"

April 3 - Searching for Eggleston photos
I was google image searching to show DB examples of Eggleston's work after talking about the doc i watched, and came across a series of photos he did of Graceland. The first one with EP in it wouldn't load. Then the Salon article I read after finding a photo included the following paragraph:
He had also completed a commission to photograph Graceland, Elvis Presley's monument to bad taste. Though Eggleston and Presley came from opposite ends of the social spectrum, there was a certain poetic justice in the choice of Eggleston as the one to preserve Presley's milieu. After becoming a successful entertainer, Presley never wore blue jeans. Eggleston has never owned a pair in his life. The significance of wearing what are essentially work clothes was lost on neither man.

From the Daily Mail Q&A with Mr. Cage:
ARE YOU A SHOPAHOLIC OR SHOP-SHY?
I like clothes, but I don't collect clothes. One of the things Liberace said to Elvis Presley was: "You have to dress to match the talent," and I always thought that was a great line. Sometimes, I'll go "Well, I'm feeling like orange today", and then I'll wear an orange jacket.
