So you'd like to... become a redneck
A guide by Rockabilly Rebel "Adam" (Ohio)

Being a redneck is something you are born into, but with this guide I will try to help you develop this lifestyle. I will give you a starter kit, but you will want to buy more later on.

Music
Let's start with your music collection. I'm sorry, but Michael Jackson and Madonna have to go. You can replace them with Elvis. If you prefer a band over a solo act, check out Lynyrd Skynyrd - All Time Greatest Hits, "Creedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle, Vol. 1: The 20 Greatest Hits", and ZZ Top - Greatest Hits. If you are a solo act type, check out Bob Seger - Greatest Hits, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Greatest Hits, Words & Music: John Mellencamp's Greatest Hits, and The Definitive Collection

By now you are probably saying, "Man, where the hell's the country?" If you want it here it is. Start off with the greatest country act of all time. Garth Brooks? Hell no. I'm talking about The Man In Black and a perfect starter is The Essential Johnny Cash. Other country artists you should add to your collection are: Hank Williams - 40 Greatest Hits, 40 #1 Hits, Ultimate Waylon Jennings, The Essential Willie Nelson, The Essential George Jones: The Spirit of Country, and The Essential David Allan Coe

Movies
A simple rule of thumb: Burt Reynolds is the King. Here are a few essential films: Smokey and the Bandit - Special Edition, The Cannonball Run, Stroker Ace, Hooper, and Deliverance. In additon to Burt, here are a few other great films: Every Which Way but Loose, Viva Knievel, Convoy, and King Creole.

There have always been some great redneck shows on TV. Here are four of the best: The Andy Griffith Show - The Complete First Season, Hee Haw Collection - Premier + Laffs, The Dukes of Hazzard - The Complete First Season, and My Name Is Earl - The Complete First Season In additon, here are the best moments in the history of televison: Elvis Presley - Ed Sullivan Shows, Elvis: '68 Comeback Special, and Aloha from Hawaii Via Satellite

I'd like to thank y'all for reading my list and I hope that you found it helpful. This is Adam. I'm over and out.
